Treat Your Acne Naturally

Are you dreading going to the birthday party over the weekend because you have a huge pimple on your forehead that you’re too embarrassed about? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Acne or pimples are a common skin infection that can occur when the oil glands in your skin get clogged. Dirt usually settles on these clogged glands and manifests itself in the form of pimples.

Why does our skin gland get clogged?

Ayurveda claims that acne can happen due to an increase in Pitta (fire) dosha in our bodies. This can happen either due to an increased intake of alcohol, tea, coffee, oily or spicy foods which can cause heat in our body. Stress, tension, pollution, and chemicals can also cause the skin to get clogged. This problem is very rampant among teenagers and according to estimates affects about 90% of them.

Some natural tips to treat acne

The good news is that you can treat acne from the comfort of your own home.

  • Hydrate your skin. Drink 7-8 glasses or four liters of water every day. A hydrated system will detoxify your body and ensure all systems are working fine.

  • Have a lot of carrots, pumpkin, apricots and other yellow-orange fruits and vegetables. These are rich in beta-carotene which is useful for healthy skin and hair.

  • Try applying a mixture of cucumber juice with carrot or lettuce juice on your pimples.

  • Aloe Vera is great for skin. It works wonders as a moisturizer and has a cooling effect on pimples. Apply fresh aloe vera pulp or gel on your pimples, twice every day.

  • Make a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves, apply on your pimple marks and wash it off with warm water. Do this before going to bed every other day and you will see that your scars have reduced.

  • Mix lemon juice and rose water in equal quantities. Apply on pimples and rinse with lukewarm water after 30 minutes. You will begin to see a visible difference in two weeks.
