Canker sores or mouth ulcers are small whitish ulcers that appear in the mouth or at the base of gums. They can cause pain and irritation while talking and eating. The causes of canker sores can range from lack of vitamins to mouth injury, emotional stress, constipation, indigestion, etc. Here are a few home remedies to get rid of canker sores with ease.
Add two teaspoons of salt to a glass of warm water. Mix well and rinse your mouth with this water two to three times everyday. Salt keeps your mouth clean while warm water gives a general sense of relief.
Onion is an excellent healing agent. Cut a slice out of an onion. Place this on the canker sore for about fifteen minutes. Doing this a few times a day also provides relief from pain.
Take a handful of coriander leaves and add it to a cup of water. Heat this water for fifteen minutes and strain. When it gets lukewarm, use it for gargling. This can be done three times a day to promote faster healing.
A used tea bag is full of tannic acid which aids in reducing the pain and inflammation related to canker sores. Dip a black tea bag in lukewarm water for a second. Now keep the bag on the canker sore for about fifteen minutes.
