How will you know if your baby is on the way out? There are certain clear signs that can tell if you are in labour. Watch out for these and get ready to welcome your baby.
It may be difficult to distinguish between false contractions known as Braxton Hicks contractions and real contractions. To be sure that the contractions will lead to labour, time the contractions from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next. If they seem regular, with about the same amount of time in between and become progressively closer and stronger, you are in labor.
The mucus plug blocks any kind of bacteria from entering the cervical opening. When you pass the mucus plug, a brownish or blood tinged discharge will be seen. This is a sign that labour could start soon or in a few days.
This is the trickling or gushing of amniotic fluid. The amniotic fluid is odorless unlike urine. If you get the feeling that you have wet your pants, but the liquid is odorless, your water just broke. A slight colour or odor could be a sign that the baby has passed meconium in the uterus.
