It is good to take a break from the chaos of daily life and treat yourself to a few hours of relaxation and rejuvenation every once in a while. Paying heed to your body and giving it some much needed pampering not only restores your physical health but also your mental and emotional health. Why worry when you can do this from the comfort of your own home? Giving yourself a spa treatment at home need not be a hassle anymore. Follow these simple tips to get going.


Take a  cup of brown sugar, a quarter cup of olive oil or vitamin E oil, two teaspoons each of nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon and blend into a coarse paste. This mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for future use. Massage the mixture all over your body. Scrub well and rinse with lukewarm water.

Foot Bath

Soak your feet in a tub full of hot water enriched with the goodness of epsom salt, grapefruit juice and rosemary sprigs. Now gently massage your feet and pat them dry with a towel. This foot bath is excellent for rejuvenating your tired feet after a day's work.

Facial mask

Blend cucumber, apple and egg white along with mint leaves and lemon juice.Add a few drops of lavender or lime essential oil to this and apply as face mask. This cooling face mask works well to revive dull and tired skin. Cucumber juice and aloe vera help to refresh the eyes and get rid of dark circles.

Peeling and Cleansing

Milk and gelatin offer a great homemade alternative for peeling and cleansing. Combine a tablespoon each of milk, gelatin and honey. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to this. Apply on the skin and rinse when dry.
