Green Moong Dal Vada

Green Moong Dal - 250gms

Green Chillies - 5

Onion - one chopped

Ginger-1 inch piece

Garlic Cloves- 5

Cumin Seeds - 2 table spoons

Salt to taste

Curry Leaves

Oil for deep fry


1. Firstly, soak whole green moong dal overnight in water or for 7 - 8 hours.


2. Drain the water completely from the moong dal and blend the green moong dal into a coarse thick paste without adding any water so that vadas come out crisply.


3. Now blend green chillies, onions, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, cumin seeds and salt and keep it aside and add this paste to the grounded green moong dal paste and mix it well.



4. Heat oil in a wok for deep frying.


5. On a wet cloth, take a portion of the dough and make a vada keeping a hole in the middle.


6. Now fry vada till it becomes golden brown on a medium flame so that the inside batter is cooked well.


7. Serve hot vadas with any chutney or ketchup.
