Most of us only apply sunscreen on our face. We forget that our elbows are also exposed to the sun resulting in darkening of the skin. The next time you step out, don’t forget to dab on some sunscreen to your elbows.
Lemon Juice and Gram Flour
Lemon juice is a wonderful product for lightening dark skin. Apply some lemon juice on the elbows, massage for about ten minutes and then allow it to dry. Wash with cold water. Do this on a regular basis and notice the change. Another option is to make a paste of gram flour and lemon juice. Apply, massage, let dry and wash off. Moisturize after each treatment as lemon juice tends to make the skin dry.
Milk, Honey and Turmeric
The bleaching agents in milk, moisture in honey and the antiseptic properties of turmeric work well when mixed together to reduce tan. Spread this paste on the elbows and let it rest for twenty minutes. Wet your hands and massage the elbows for a few minutes. Wash with cold water.
Sugar and Olive Oil
Sugar aids in exfoliation, while olive oil moisturizes the skin. Make a thick paste of equal amounts of olive oil and sugar. Apply this mix on the dark areas and rub the skin for about five minutes. Clean using mild soap and water.
