Like mentioned in another article, children’s physical development is deteriorating. They can no longer run as fast, jump as high or throw and catch a ball as well as they did in the past. This is due a lifestyle that includes less space for physical activity, and an inadequate diet along with usage of gadgets.
We need to keep our anxiety in control when it comes to our children and let them explore the world outside. The best way to learn is through experience. The earlier the experience the better. Children learn through play about body language, negotiation, trust and distrust, and many other life skills.
Children in India have less opportunities to play outdoors than their parents had as kids, according to a survey in 10 countries which found that over half of children globally play outside for one hour or less each day.
Effort is needed to implement a few changes in our country. Special changes can be made by teachers and schools, PE (physical education) needs to be given importance. Care can be taken that at least one class is conducted outside. Now-a-days importance has been given to theory and examination rather than physical development. This needs to change. As it was found that kids who play outside have better brain development.
It takes a village to raise a child is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. Parents of different kids need to join together to take time supervising or taking kids outside to parks and other outdoor facilities to play. Always keep an eye out for safe places where the kids and their friends can play. Make sure to travel in buses, autos, bikes and other vehicles with your children to get them accustomed to it.
