Setting expectations

Having discussed aboutĀ sleepĀ andĀ eating issues. Let’s learn a little about behavior and how as parents we set “expectations”

Remember, a child doesn’t know how to discriminate.

For example:Ā Ā When you tell others, that your child doesn’t wake up early in the morning inspite of trying hard, in front of the child. You are actually setting your expectation.

The child unconsciously sets his/her behavior accordingly. It’s just that you reinforced the behavior now. (By talking about him in front of others)

The parent always needs to be conscious while talking about the child either to the child or anyone else.

For example,Ā if you say that your child never troubles during study hour or on the dinning table, you are setting their behavior appropriately. Now, they start believing subconsciously and start displaying the behavior as described.

As parents it’s important to be careful about what and how you are setting the behavior just by talking about it.
