Spinach Frankie



For the dough:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour/atta

  • 1 small potato(boiled & grated)

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp oil 

  • Milk to knead

For the filling:

  • 4 cups chopped spinach

  • 1 finely chopped onion 

  • 2 chopped green chillies

  • 4 tbsp mashed paneer

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  •  salt and red chilli powder as required

For the frankie:

  • tomato sauce

  • finely chopped onions


1. Sift flour and salt together and add finely grated potato, 2 teaspoons oil and knead with a little milk to make a soft dough.

2. Keep aside and make 10 - 12 small balls and roll out into thin chapattis and cook the chapattis on both sides on a tawa and keep it aside.

3. To prepare the filling, heat oil in a pan and add onions and cook till the onions turn transparent.

4.  Add chopped spinach, green chillies and cook for 5-7 mins on low flame till spinach gets cooked.

5. Add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and mashed paneer and mix well.

6. For preparing the frankie, take the chapatti and spread tomato sauce, sprinkle some chopped onions and spread the spinach paneer mixture and roll the chapatti.

7. Now heat the frankies on a tawa by adding little oil on a low flame, till light brown. Serve hot.
