From times immemorial, we have been told that it is better to be safe than sorry. Why wait to fall sick when you can prevent it altogether? However, today’s fast-paced lives and accessibility to unhealthy food at all times have made it very difficult for this preventive approach to work. Doctors are increasingly finding themselves with the impossible task of treating new and unique diseases.
My aim is to bring back the preventive approach into today’s world where one can be happy and live healthy without worrying about health related problems. There are three things which constitute overall well being of a person; physical health, mental health & emotional health.
A balanced diet and regular exercise contributes to a healthy, supple body and practising Yoga helps achieve an alert and sharp mind. In fact, Yoga is now so popular that June 21 is celebrated as World Yoga Day. A few minutes of Yoga everyday can help relax your mind and body.
If you are busy you can follow this simple, yet effective exercise pattern.
Start doing Pranayama (Kapalbhati, Anulom vilom, & Aum chanting) & Surya Namaskar for 15 minutes for mental & emotional wellbeing.
Take 30 minutes brisk walk to keep heart healthy.
Complement this by eating healthy. Even if you are overweight, do not starve yourself by following crash diets. Instead, eat better quality food. If you are looking to follow a diet, do consult a professional who can help you with your needs. This will help you understand your body better and you can make up for any deficiencies that you may have too.Remember, you are what you eat and think. So, to be happy, all you have to do is eat well and think positive. Help your mind gain more control and destress through Yoga. After all, health is wealth.
