Blush is one of those beauty products that is often misused. A poor application can result in a clown face. However, if applied appropriately using the right product with the right color & application techniques, it can make you look youthful and healthy instantly!
There are different kinds of blushes available in the market and it is imperative to choose one which suits your skin type. Powder blush works perfectly for women with normal to oily skin. It is hassle-free and easy to apply. Cream blush works best for women with dry skin and can be best applied with fingers to achieve a healthy glow and a dewy look which is much needed for a dry skin. Cheek stains come in a stick form, these are also called as tint blush, and these are perfect for women who do not prefer too much makeup and for an everyday use.
Women with fair to medium skin should try light colors like corals, peaches and soft pinks or a little warmer rose tones. For women with dark and olive skin tone, shades like deep plum, browns and bronze will brighten your complexion yet appear natural.
Now that you’ve found the right blush color, it’s time to learn where exactly to apply it according to different face shapes. The right swipe can change the whole look of the face.
Oval: apply to the apples of the cheek and blend upwards following the cheek bone for a natural look
Round: Apply along cheekbones and blend upwards towards temples in an angular motion to give the face a slimmer look
Long: Apply only to the apples of cheek and blend towards ear to widen the face
Heart: Apply under apples of the cheeks, just like contour and sweep upwards, this will bring attention to your cheekbone.
Square: Apply directly to the cheeks to soften the strong angels of the face, start a few inches away from the nose.
A thumb rule for the right application is to build the color than just applying it in one go combined with a lot of blending to make it look seamless. Keep blushing!
Eyes and Lips- enhancing your natural beauty is important
My secret to perfect eyes lie with perfect blending, a good eyeshadow primer, using high quality eye shadows, and applying the eyeliner specific to the eye geometry which augments the shape of the eyes.
The directions below are pro secrets to help you achieve a gorgeous eye makeup.
Prime your lids: Eyeshadow primer is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours.
Apply eyeshadow: It's great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow allowing them to blend into each other in a gradient manner.
Line your eyes: You can use liquid, gel liners or an eye pencil too. Line the eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner.
Highlight the eyes: This step involves only the inside part of the eye. Putting a bit of your lightest eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye will brighten it significantly.
Highlight your brows: Take the same light eyeshadow and dab it on your brow bone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger so it looks seamless.
Curl the Lashes: An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more glamorous. For added effect, you can use false eyelashes too.
Apply mascara and place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of your top lashes and wiggle back and forth to give it a full and even coverage. Follow with few more sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well.
As any other step in makeup lipstick application is one the most important steps of any makeup look. To get the look just right follow these simple steps which will never leave you with a wrong lipstick application.
Step 1: Exfoliate your lips to create a smooth surface. You can also use a pinch of sugar!
Step 2: Moisturize your lips using a lip balm/Vaseline. Leave the balm on as long as possible, while you do rest of the makeup.
Step 3: Use a tissue and remove the balm/Vaseline, as the lipstick needs a dry surface in order to stick.
Step 4: Apply a lip prime or just a small dab of concealer. This helps the lipstick have a nice base.
Step 5: Now here’s my secret tip, Line your lips with a skin-toned lip pencil, find one that really matches you lip color. This prevents the lip color from bleeding out of the lip line and keeps it in place.
Step 6: Line the lips with a color closest to the lipstick you are going for.
Step 7: Apply lipstick to the cupids bow area and then to the outer corners and bottom of the lip. Then fill in the rest of the lips. Then blot with a tissue and repeat a coat of lipstick to make it last longer.
Step 8: Using a small amount of concealer on a lip brush/ any flat pointed brush correct any mistakes if needed.
Rest assured that you will turn heads wherever you go, if you stick to these steps every time you step out. Don’t forget to share these tips and spread the love!
