Let’s be honest, no one likes that extra flab and we’ve all taken some steps to get rid of it. But trust me! Though losing your pot belly may seem difficult, it is not impossible. Trying a little harder will certainly give you success.

Besides, this layer of fat around your abdomen can intensify your risk of numerous health issues like Heart diseases, Type-2 Diabetes, certain types of cancer, infertility, back pain, knee pain, gastric trouble, etc. Here are some effective ways to burn that stubborn belly fat.

Never skip meals

By skipping a meal, you are likely to eat more than what is necessary in the next meal. This will lead to more fat gain. Moreover, eating more than what is required results in a stressful digestive system and hormonal imbalance.

Eat more proteins

Add proteins to your diet in order to boost your body’s metabolic activities. Proteins also gives a sense of fullness. Rajma, tofu, sprouts and curd are great sources of protein.

Have a balanced diet

Avoid alcohol

Alcohol keeps your body from burning fat and also increases appetite. If you cannot avoid alcohol, try smart ideas like replacing soda with water and cutting down on the amount you drink. Try to have any kind of beverage in a tall, thin glass instead of a wide, short one. This tricks your mind into believing that you are drinking more. Great trick right? And it works! Try it!

Exercise

Include cardio or sports in your exercise regime to reduce fat percentage and burn calories. This will help you look toned and less flabby. Exercising not only helps to lose belly fat but also cuts down fat from other regions.

De-stress

Stress is one of the biggest culprits and can result in a number of ailments. Moreover, stress can also lead to emotional eating thereby adding to body fat percentage. Beating stress will automatically help you to be more healthy and energetic. There are many ways to deal with stress – meditation, working out, listening to music, following a hobby, etc. are some of them.

Cut down on sugar

Is sugar really the answer to happiness? You know that it is not right to eat that piece of sinful chocolate. And yet you do it, only to feel guilty later on. This is called having a guilty conscience in “retrospect”. Next time, count until 20 and remind yourself of the horrid feeling you get after you have sinned.

If you are having a bad day, avoid sugar. When you consume sugar, a happy hormone called serotonin is produced which might improve your mood temporarily. But this will affect your health in the long term. Keep yourself busy with some other activities like listening to music, going for a run, playing with kids, etc. 

Fluid it up

Water is a great tool in your weight-loss arsenal! Avoid dehydration as it increases belly fat by affecting your metabolism. Water also helps to keep hunger under control. Increase the amount of fluids in your diet by having infused or detox waters, etc.

Always pay attention to the things you tell yourself and the thoughts that pass through your head. Weight loss begins in your head. Train yourself to become thin!
